Karen is a second year PhD student in Peter Leadlay’s group in the Department of Biochemistry. Her work focuses on identifying the pathways that bacteria use for making antimicrobial compounds and understanding the unusual biochemical mechanisms involved. She also hopes to manipulate these bacterial pathways to generate new antibiotics.
